Why we built Chion
Every company runs the same broken loop: a business user needs a number, an analyst writes SQL, the SQL has a bug, the number arrives the next day, the decision was already made. After ten years of living that loop at Meta, Twilio, and American Express, Jonathan Dag built Chion: the analytics layer that should have existed from the start.

The founder
Jonathan Dag has spent over 10 years as an analyst working for Meta, Twilio, American Express, MasterCard, and Bosch. Different industries, same problem. Business users waited days for a dashboard update. Analysts rewrote the same SQL with different filters. AI tools hallucinated the query. He built Chion because the analytics layer that should have existed from the start didn't exist. It does now.
The mission
Chion is an AI SQL workforce for PostgreSQL teams, built to close the gap between a business question and a trusted answer. If you can't see the SQL, you can't trust the chart. If you can't trace the number, you shouldn't put it in a slide deck. Chion is built on the principle that analytics must be transparent and supportive of existing BI needs. Our goal is no black box.

Built for analysts, usable by everyone
The pipeline validates like an analyst would. The interface doesn't require you to be one.
Trust by default
SELECT-only. Read-only. Raw row-level data never reaches our LLM providers. The LLM sees metadata only. And you choose where every component runs: our cloud or your own infrastructure.
Security and trust
Chion enforces SELECT-only SQL, vault-encrypted credentials (AES-256-GCM), row-limit caps (1,000 rows max), an immutable audit log of every query, and full tenant isolation. Raw row-level data never reaches our LLM providers; only metadata and aggregated query results are transmitted.
