Common questions about Chion demos and the product.
How is Chion different from a general-purpose SQL chatbot?
Chion holds three invariants in code rather than in prompt instructions: every query is a read-only SELECT, every query passes a two-layer validator before it executes, and credentials sit in an AES-256-GCM encrypted vault. Plaintext is decrypted into memory for a single request, held for at most 60 seconds or five reads, then purged. The executed SELECT is shown under every answer, so the difference is something you can check rather than take on trust.
What databases does the Chion demo support?
PostgreSQL today. The demo in the video uses a PostgreSQL 14 fixture database. MySQL, BigQuery, and Snowflake are on the product roadmap.
Will Chion ever write to my database?
No. Every query is SELECT-only, blocked in code before it reaches your database. LIMIT is enforced at the contract level, and INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and DROP are rejected by the validator, not by LLM instruction. See the trust page for the full security model.

How is this different from a free text-to-SQL generator?
A generator outputs SQL for you to copy and paste. In these demos Chion checks the query in code (read-only SELECT, two-layer validator), executes it on a real Postgres, and renders the chart. Compiling a saved query into a skill for Claude Code or Codex is described in the 79-second video rather than performed on camera.
